Development of risk assessment approaches in the context of regulating the safety of nuclear power plant units decommissioning
The article addresses approach to the development of the system of managing non radiation related risks for activities of planning and implementing nuclear power plant units decommissioning projects. The relevance of risk management issues is justified by the high rate of change in social, economic, geopolitical and other conditions worldwide: uncertainties are making an increasingly significant contribution to all types of activities in the field of atomic energy use, including the decommissioning of nuclear power plant units, which necessitates the development of modern approaches to risk assessment, as well as the adaptation of existing generally accepted risk management methods to activities in the field of atomic energy use.
A conceptual risk assessment methodology focused on the activities of planning, preparing and carrying out the decommissioning of nuclear power plant units is proposed, and also its applicability for the purposes of regulating the safety of nuclear power plant unit decommissioning is noted.
