Recommendations on the Procedure, Scope, Methods and Means of Control over Radioactive Wastes to Confirm their Compliance with the Disposal Acceptance Criteria (RB-155-20)

The Safety Guide contains recommendations of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia on the procedure, scope, methods and means of control over radioactive wastes to confirm their compliance with the disposal acceptance criteria.

The Safety Guide is to be applied by:

organizations, the activity of which generates radioactive wastes to be conditioned;
special-purpose organizations for radioactive waste handling, which carry out collection, sorting, storage, processing or conditioning of radioactive wastes;
organizations involved in the design of facilities for collection, sorting, processing or conditioning of radioactive wastes;
organizations developing processes for radioactive wastes handling before disposal, including development, engineering and manufacture of containers used for radioactive wastes conditioning.
The Safety Guide does not cover the activity of handling of radioactive wastes to be disposed in deep geological disposals for liquid radioactive wastes.

In the context of enactment of the RB-155-20, the Safety Guide RB-023-02 “Recommendations to the Establishment of Acceptance Criteria for Storage and Disposal of the Conditioned Radioactive Waste” approved by the Decree of the Federal Inspectorate of Russia for Nuclear and Radiation Safety No. 1 of January 10, 2002 was recognized as repealed.
