Nuclear safety rules for ships and other floating craft with nuclear reactors. (NP-029-17)

These Federal rules and regulations in the field of atomic energy use “Nuclear safety rules for ships and other floating craft with nuclear reactors” (NP-029-17) shall be applicable to ships and other floating craft with nuclear reactors based on double-circuit pressurized water reactors including floating power units at all stages of their lifecycle.

Safety rules are issued in replacement of the federal regulations and rules in the field of the use of atomic energy “Nuclear safety rules for nuclear power installations of ships” (NP-029-01).

Safety rules have been developed on the basis of the regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation, federal regulations and rules in the field of atomic energy use, rules of classification society Federal Autonomous Institution «Russian Maritime Register of Shipping», taking into consideration IAEA safety standard “Fundamental Safety Principles. Safety Fundamentals No. SF-1”, IMO code of safety for nuclear merchant ships (Resolution A.491(XII) dated of November 19, 1981).

Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service No. 352 “On approval of federal regulations and rules in the field of the use of atomic energy “Nuclear safety rules for ships and other floating craft with nuclear reactors” dated of September 4, 2017 was registered in the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation on September 27, 2017 (No. 48343). Introduced in October 9, 2017.
