An approach is considered to accounting of features (properties, characteristics) of the radioactive waste disposal system and events and processes of natural and man-induced origin affecting it in justification of long-term safety of radioactive waste disposal facilities after their closure, which consists of generalization and formalization of the lists of initial events of design basis accidents established in federal rules and regulations in the field of atomic energy use, taking into account the internationally accepted list of features, events and process. The approach is illustrated with regard to deep disposal facilities for liquid radioactive waste.
