A brief characteristic of current system of federal rules and regulations in the sphere of atomic energy use (FNP) is presented. Factors indicating the urgency of development and improvement of FNP system are considered. The changes of the RF legislation in the sphere of atomic energy use that call for updating of FNP requirements are discussed in detail. Information concerned with practical steps of Rostechnadzor aiming to update regulatory framework in the sphere of atomic energy use is given.
