SEC NRS took part in the 36th meeting of the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards held in Vienna

The 36th meeting of the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards (CSS) was held in November 3 – 5, 2014 in Austria, Vienna. R. Charafoutdinov, Deputy Director of SEC NRS, was included into Rostechnadzor’s delegation headed by A. Ferapontov, Deputy Chairman of Rostechnadzor. 

Hearings were given to reports of the Chairs of Committees on Safety Standards: Waste Safety Standards Committee (WASSC), Radiation Safety Standards Committee (RASSC), Transport Safety Standards Committee (TRANSSC), Nuclear Safety Standards Committee (NUSSC) and Nuclear Security Guidance Committee (NSGC) about the progress of the activity of the aforesaid committees. 

There was also provided information about the results of the activity related to revision of the IAEA Safety Standards in the light of Fukushima Daiichi NPP accident, and plans for further activity were shaped. 

The participants approved the draft safety standards and proposed document preparation profiles submitted by the respective committees. Also they gave hearing to the reports of representatives of Brazilian and Argentinean regulators regarding adoption of the IAEA Safety Standards in the course of development of their national regulations. 

The next CSS meeting is to take place in April 20-22, 2015.
