Safety Guide «The recommended methods for parameters calculation needed to develop standards for permissible discharges of radioactive substances into water bodies» (RB-126-17) is introduced into force

On July 25, 2017  the Safety Guide «The recommended methods for parameters calculation  needed to develop standards for permissible discharges of radioactive substances into the water bodies» (RB-126-17) is introduced into force.

This Safety Guide includes methods on parameters calculation, that are necessary to develop standards for permissible discharges of radioactive substances into water objects that are recommended by Rostechnadzor. This document is applied to organizations operating  facilities with  stationary sources  for radioactive substances discharge (sources for radioactive effluents discharge) into water objects, including the nuclear facilities operating organizations and other organizations, which carry out business operations and other activity not related to nuclear facilities but discharge radioactive substances (radioactive effluents discharge) into water objects (hereinafter in text to be referred to as – the Organizations), except for the Organizations,  which activities do not result in  the radioactive substances volume activity changing (if compared with the background activity) and (or) adding of radioactive substances activity additional to the background activity under conditions the discharge is performed into the same water object, which water is used for activities implementation.

This Safety Guide is designed for use by organizations, which develop standards for permissible discharges of radioactive substances into water objects and for Rostechnadzor officials, which assess and approve standards for permissible discharges of radioactive substances  into water objects. This document is published for the first time.
